On the week beginning Monday, 16th January, We organised Minding Me Week for our school. Minding Me Week is a positive and uplifting week where fun activities and informative talks take place. On Blue Monday we had a non uniform day to raise money for The Samaritans and the Marie Keating foundation, and also to raise spirits! Everyone started off the day with a positive note on their desk, and positive quotes and songs were played over the intercom every day.
The First and Second years took part in a table quiz, and a poster competition where the theme was `Things that make you happy`. The teachers also got involved in a teacher quiz where they sent in facts about themselves and also a picture of them when they were babies and students had to guess which teacher it was. Each day, students had the chance to answer questions on mental health in the daily quiz, where they had the chance to win self care prizes to promote relaxation
We were given various talks throughout the week such as, talks from the charities we raised money for on Monday and workshops such as, Motus Mental Health workshop as well as The Wake Up workshop.
During classes all through the week relaxing coffee mornings were held and meditation and yoga were carried out. Students were asked to write out and share what they are grateful for on the gratitude tree and also got to write what their dreams are and what they aspire to on the Dream Board on the Canteen wall.
This week went really well and was thoroughly enjoyable. We hope it raised awareness about mental health and spreads positivity!
