On Monday, 24th October, we played Regina Mundi, Cork, in the second round of the Senior C football league in Killeagh.
Katie Donnelly opened the scoring with a fine point from play which was followed by 2 points from Aoibh Murphy. Some stern defending from the backs allowed the Cork side only 3 points from play for the whole half while Siobhán Lennon chipped in with 2 points (free and from play). The Ard Scoil played with wind advantage in the first half and despite having the majority of the possession went in at half time with just a 2 point lead.
Again the Ard Scoil started strongly in the second half and began to convert possession into scores. 3 goals - 2 from Róisín Kiersey and one from Siobhán Lennon put the result beyond doubt while Muireann Hickey and Abbie Fitzpatrick found the target also. A late surge from Regina Mundi saw them finish with the last few scores but the defence stood up well to the challenge. Final score - Ard Scoil na nDéise 3-7, Regina Mundi 1-8.
