Ard Scoil na nDéise celebrated the Annual Awards Night on Friday, 20th January. It was a wonderful occasion which brought together a large cross-section of the Ard Scoil community to celebrate all that is good about our school and our students.
Our guest of honour on the night was past pupil Ms. Sara Dolan who is now the Commercial Director of Mount Congreve Gardens and Waterford Treasures Museums. We were delighted that Sara was able to take time out of her busy schedule to come and celebrate our Awards Night with us. She spoke very highly of Ard Scoil na nDéise and the time she spent as a student there. Sara also gave a wonderful account of her own educational path and her journey to her current role. She was highly complimentary of our students and their achievements and gave them great food for thought in terms of the possibilities open to them when they graduate from Ard Scoil na nDéise.
The Principal, Ms. Jennifer O’Keeffe highlighted the fact that combining the five CEIST values of promoting spiritual and human development, achieving quality in teaching and learning, showing respect for every person, creating community, and being just and responsible, with our school mission statement of ‘Reaching our potential with respect, care, and friendship’ gave rise to a can-do attitude permeating everything that we do in our school and encourages the students to always strive to be the best that they can be.
As always, the awards presented on the night acknowledged achievements across a broad spectrum of achievements, both curricular and co-curricular, placing emphasis on the holistic development of our students.
We were very proud to see an abundance of evidence of our students’ commitment to their academic work as well as to a range of extra-curricular activities. Looking at the scope and variety of awards presented on the night, it was clearly evident that there really is something for everyone here at the Ard Scoil. We are truly grateful to our dedicated and committed teachers who work so hard with the girls to help them develop their many talents.
We would also like to congratulate the girls for making the effort to move outside their comfort zones and to take up new challenges and try new things. We never know our limits until we are pushed and our students are clearly pushing themselves to be the best that they can be.
