International Selection for Ciara Scanlan

The Tailteann Games were held in Tullamore last weekend. This is the annual Schools inter-provincial championships where the best under 17 athletes in Munster take on the other three provinces. A very strong Munster girls teams won the Tailteann Cup for the third year in succession.

This year Ciara Scanlan was a member of the victorious Munster team. Ciara finished second in the hammer event and, as a result, was selected to represent Ireland in the schools international, which will be held in Glasgow this year.

Ciara becomes the latest Ard Scoil athlete to be selected to represent Ireland and this is a well-deserved honour as Ciara has put in a very hard years work under the guidance of coach Len Thomlinson and has made a huge improvement in her throwing. All in the Ard Scoil wish Ciara the best of luck in Glasgow on Sat July 17th .
