A new Board of Management took office in mid October 2008. The term of office of the Board is three years.  Since the Education Act 1998 became law, the Board of Management is a legal entity with legal responsibilities and obligations.  Parents are entitled to two representatives on the Board – it is desirable to have a male and a female.

Maurice Power, Chairperson of Ard Scoil na nDéise Parents’ Council, presents a cheque for €10,000 Euro to Dorothy Hughes, Principal.  Also included in the photo are John O’Flynn, Chairperson of the Board of Management, Colette Power, Deputy Principal, and members of the Board of  Management and the Parents’ Council.

The parent representatives must be parents/guardians of students who are presently enrolled in the school.  The Board of Management consists of four Trustee representatives, two parent and two teacher members. As the Board is a corporate body, parent and teacher members do not act in a representational capacity.  Board members must be prepared to attend ordinary and extraordinary meetings of the Board (approximately once a month), attend pre service and in service courses, take a full part in the important work of the Board and maintain strict confidentiality.

If you need to contact the Board you should put your comments/question in writing and address it to the "Secretary to the Board of Management" , then send it to school. The Secretary of the Board is the School Principal, they will forward any correspondence to the Board.
