Ard Scoil na Deise
A Tour of the School.
As visitors come through the doors of the Ard Scoil the first thing they will see is an exhibition of Art Work. The current one is mainly 2nd year work, several of the pieces come under the title "Fantasy Footware "
The first classroom that the visitor would walk past is the Computer Room. There are 28 machines and we have had access to broadband for several years. The pieces of Art work extend into the building.
As you walk upstairs there is a painting that has been in the building for at least 15 years. The title is a great one to have in a school -"Let your light shine"
The Science labs contain lots of exciting bits and pieces, thankfully the body parts are only models and the skeleton is friendly.
We have made great efforts in recent years to keep the school " Clean and Green". Mrs O'Brien and her band of Green Students work all year round to try and make sure that we re-cycle whenever possible. Here is one of our clean and green stations, ready for use.
Up the stairs we have Art work prominently displayed. The language lab, which was refurbished last year has pieces of work by 1st and 2nd years on the wall. The lab is used by French, Irish and German teachers.
At one end of the top corridor we have a Prayer room. It is a very peaceful spot and is used for reflection, and class or staff prayer services.
In the Art Room we have some work done by this years Junior Cert's.
Underneath the art room is the music and video room. We have a great range of instruments, and new students can be helped. Over in the Junior building the work men are busy with the new windows. We can have a peep in the hall where we see the stage. At least 4 witches have appeared on this very stage along with dancers, musicians and even the staff performing at the end of term concerts. We have had fashion shows - both serious and comic and Cleamnhais must surely be one of the highlights of the year. At the moment the high jump mats are on the stage, we will let them have their moment of fame.
Finally you are being allowed to see a room that is not normally on view to the public. The Pantomime stockroom, all sorts of surprising items have been known to appear from here.
