Academic Results Results from the Leaving Certificate class of 2009 Nationally approximately 8% of Leaving Certificate students achieve 500 points or more. We in Ard Scoil na nDéise are very proud of our academic tradition. Our results have almost doubled the national average each year, with 14.8% of our students in 2009 achieving 500 points or more. Results from the Leaving Certificate class of 2006
In the Ard Scoil we can honestly say that we are very pleased with our results. At the end of each academic year we send a very large proportion of our students on to 3rd level education. We had a relatively small group in this particular Leaving Certificate group, numbers in other years are larger, for example there are 72 students in Transition Year, but the 2006 class certainly produced quality results. You may be interested to see these results in more detail: 23% of our Leaving Cert students achieved 500 points or more in their exams. Another 4 students achieved 495 points. By any standards these are fabulous results. The girls went into a wide variety of courses, we can give specific details: 50% of the girls going on to 3rd level are doing degree courses in U.C.C., these range from Chemical and Biological Science, through Arts, Commerce, Accounting, Law, Nursing, Pharmacy and Physics and Astrophysics. 4 Students are doing Primary Teaching. We have noticed that on some of the so called league tables produced by Newspapers, students going into Teaching are not counted as going on to third level ! Well we are very happy to count our student Teachers as studying something valuable. Other courses being followed by the girls include: Radiography, Beauty Therapy, Business, Interior Architecture, Veterinary Nursing, Languages, Legal studies and we always have a couple of students doing Art Portfolio preparation. ALL of our students from the 2006 group found places in courses for degree, diploma level or portfolio preparation. Sometimes when academic results are mentioned, students with special needs are ignored. In our school we always try to provide support for those students and our doors are open to students of any ability. We like to think that hard working staff, hard working students and marvelous supportive parents are the means of producing such good results.
