Leaving and Junior Certificate Exam Dates, Costs & CAO Deadline 22nd January, 2010. Dear Parents/Guardians, As you know, Pre-Leaving and Pre-Junior Cert exams begin on Monday, February 22nd, right after the Mid-term break. It is important that all examination students have a good study routine at this stage of the school year and there are a few places available for supervised study. Junior Certificate Projects and deadlines Junior Certificate students have project work to complete as part of the exam in a few of their subjects. I would appreciate if you could remind them of the importance of being prepared in good time, so that they can meet their deadlines without too much stress! Pre-examinations The cost for the Pre-exams for Junior Certificate students this year is €120 (including answer books) and is due by today Friday, January 22nd. While students from families with Medical Cards do not pay fees for the State Examinations, unfortunately, no such concession applies for the Pre-exams. State examinations The State Examination fee for Junior Certificate 2010 is €103. Candidates who hold a medical card or are dependent on a parent or guardian who holds a medical card are not liable for examination fees. Medical cards will be accepted only if valid on 1st February 2010. N.B. G.P. Visit Cards are not eligible for exemption of fees. Mrs O’Hare will give an individual pre-printed form (EF3/G) to each candidate entered for the examinations. This form will be a combined BankGiro/Medical Card form. It is vital that this form is not lost by your daughter, as photocopies are not accepted by the State Examinations Commission. When the forms have been stamped in the bank, or completed with medical card details in the case of those covered by the medical card exemption, they must be returned to the school (to Mrs. O’Hare). I wish your daughter every success in the forthcoming examinations. Leaving Certificate 22nd January, 2010. C.A.O. applications As you may have heard, there were difficulties with C.A.O. applications in 2007 for those candidates who left their applications until the last minute. If your daughter intends submitting an application and has not yet done so,I would encourage you to ensure that she does it in good time, to avoid unnecessary stress and upset. I wish your daughter every success in the forthcoming examinations, and if she feels particularly worried or stressed, please encourage her to come and speak to a teacher. Yours sincerely, Dorothy Hughes. |
